SUPPORT
Most website emergencies are maintenance that didn’t happen.
Website Care is our monthly arrangement for that. We host the site, keep it updated, protect it, back it up somewhere else, and fix the small things before they turn into the expensive kind. $199 a month.
A backup you’ve never restored is a guess. We test restores, because the day you need one is a bad day to find out the database wasn’t included.
What changes when it’s not your problem.
What changes when it’s not your problem.
You stop watching for updates
They happen on a schedule, on a copy of your site first, and you hear about it afterwards rather than being asked to approve it.
Nobody has to remember the backup
It runs, it lives off the server that holds your site, and somebody has actually restored from it.
You find out from us, not from a customer
The site is checked from outside your network. A phone call that starts “your website is down” should not be the first you hear of it.
The small things get done
Two Quick Fixes a month, and most of them take minutes. It is the list of little jobs that otherwise sits untouched for a year.
One number for the site and the server
We run the hosting, so there is no host to call and nobody to point at anybody else.
A short note each month
What was updated, what was checked, anything worth knowing. Not a dashboard you have to log into and interpret.
What’s included.
- Managed hosting and a CDN, so the site is fast wherever it is opened from
- WordPress, plugin and theme updates, applied and checked
- Security hardening, malware scanning and a web application firewall
- Off-site backups, kept somewhere separate from the site
- Performance kept in shape
- If it is ever hacked while we are looking after it, putting it right is included
- Two Quick Fixes a month: small changes of about fifteen minutes or less, and they don’t roll over
What moves the price.
Why it’s worth paying for.
Routine work is cheaper than emergency work
Emergency work costs more, happens at the worst possible time, and starts with the damage already running. Routine work is cheap, scheduled and dull.
What we won’t claim
Maintenance doesn’t prevent every problem. Third-party services break, hosts have outages, and a determined attacker can still ruin your day.
What to expect
- We start with a baseline
- We fix what’s already broken first
- Updates go on a copy, then on your site
One price, hosting included, month to month. Work beyond the plan is quoted before it starts, at preferred client rates.
Maintenance questions.
Maintenance questions.
What counts as a Quick Fix?
A Quick Fix is a small change, about fifteen minutes of work or less: swapping a photo, updating wording that is already there, putting up a post you have written, a small change to a contact form. Two a month. They don’t roll over, and they aren’t development time. Anything bigger gets looked at and quoted before it starts.
Is hosting included?
Yes, and so is a CDN. The site runs on our hosting, which is why there is one number to call when something is wrong instead of a conversation between a web company and a host.
What happens if my website gets hacked?
If it happens while the site is under Website Care, putting it right is included: we take it down to a clean state, find how they got in and close it. We cannot promise a site will never be compromised, and nobody honest will. We can promise you are not getting an invoice for it on the day.
Our host says they handle updates.
They do a useful piece of it: core updates, backups, some security. What they don’t do is check your site afterwards or fix the form that stopped working.
What if something breaks during an update?
That’s what the staging copy and the tested backup are for. We’d roll it back and work out what happened before trying again.
